Morecambe Area Action Plan (MAAP)
Keppie Massie, supported by consultants from The Leisure Consultancy were commissioned by Lancaster City Council to undertake Market Advice and Viability Assessments to inform the emerging Morecambe Area Action Plan (MAAP). Our work included the assessment of the visitor offer underpinned by: a detailed audit of tourist related facilities noting key assets such as the Tern Project, the Midland Hotel and the Bay itself; a review of branding, signage and visitor information; a review of the economic impact of tourism; and review of the strategic context in which new tourism development would operate. From our work, we were able to identify key themes which could form the basis of future development and consider the appropriateness of sites for future consideration in the MAAP. Work is continuing on this project
