The Leisure Consultancy was appointed by South Tyneside Council on behalf of the Local Strategic Partnership to lead a multi-disciplinary team, comprising Farrells, HKD, Heritage Consultancy Services and Faber Maunsell to carry out a feasibility study into the future development of Arbeia Roman Fort in South Shields.
The study, which encompassed a number of areas of work including archaeological, technical, market and financial elements, focused particularly on the opportunity to develop a facility which would complement Arbeia, attracting new visitors to the Museum, and also provide a much needed wet weather facility in South Shields.
Following a successful conclusion to the study, an extension to the study has now been commissioned.
