A New Archives Building for Manchester?
The Leisure Consultancy has been appointed by Manchester City Council to examine the opportunity to have a number of the region's key Archive collections under "one roof". It is felt that the collections (Manchester City Council's Archive and Local Studies, Greater Manchester County Records Office, the Ahmed Iqbal Ullah Race Relations Archive and the Manchester and Lancashire Family History Society) have all to some extent "outgrown" their current locations, and there is considerable merit from both a market and operational perspective to combine them in a "fit for purpose" building.
