Saltdean Lido - Brighton
The Leisure Consultancy asked to assist in the saving of this Grade II* listed outdoor swimming pool and complex.
Saltdean Lido in Brighton is the only Grade II* listed lido in the country. Despite this status the lido complex had fallen into disrepair with only limited use being made by the local community. A Community Interest Company was established to lead the restoration of the complex and in 2014 was given the lease by Brighton & Hove Council to run the facility and to undertake the restoration. The Leisure Consultancy was asked to review a range of potential future uses of the site and building, with the underlying requirement of bringing back into use the lido, ensuring financial sustainability, retaining the exisiting library and enabling community access. A mix of uses embracing health and well-being; hospitality; meeting /function rooms was recommended to the CIC to take forward.
